I got a set of 4 when my daughter was 1.5. the first 2 were accidentally thrown out by her daycare, but once i put her name on it they didn't get throw out again. She's 5.5 now, and I only bought more because they are so versatile and I wanted back ups cuz we need them every day. these forkspoons fit well in lots of different bento box configurations. they are easily washable and actually work to eat with. as a contrast, we also have a set of stainless steel spoon fork things but something about the shape of the fork part and the spoon part makes it hard to actually eat with it. that stainless steel one has a deeper spoon (but the fork part is so short you can't really hold onto it for something like soup). the fork tines are too thick, blunt and too far apart to actually grasp/spear stuff on the stainless steel ones. these bamboo ones are easy to eat with - adult or kid. would be great for camping too. so light, packs flat. might be good to just keep one in your suitcase if you travel a lot and might need to eat ramen in your hotel in a pinch.
